How to Keep Long-Term Investments No-Brainer Simple!
Plus… My two recommended user-friendly platforms—for 8-to-80 stock investing.
I'm going to keep this short today, as this is (effectively) a repurposed community FYI, to a private reply I gave a fellow BB fan, yesterday.
In my recent “French Fries and Franchises…” post, I briefly quipped out this phrase, “8-to-80 companies.”
Shelia J asked:
"What does that mean? Companies whose products are needed over the long haul?
Yes, that's it!
The idea, which I think I first got from Howard Lindzon (founder of StockTwits), is that you keep a percentage of your investment capital allocated to set-it-and-forget-it companies. The very kinds of companies I mentioned in my recent “French Fries and Franchises…” post.
In spite of how nonsensical, excessively culturally-appropriating, or ESG-focused corporate boardrooms can be, there will still be public companies doing their damnedest to focus on… growth, performance and financials… Over social-justice crap.
What's a super-handy, anyone-can-use app where you can cross-check your research… and share ideas?
While my own personal investment choices, for equities, occurs on M1 Finance…
I recommend the Public.com for anyone just starting out. Or, to be broader, really anyone who wants a commission-free, fractional-shares mobile app. Public's wide range of asset classes is one of it's biggest differentiators.
With the ability to converse with other Public users, and the ability to build portfolios of stocks, ETFs, T-Bills, crypto, collectibles, and art (music royalties coming soon), with no minimum investment amount…
This is, without question, a no-brainer app to use.
🎗️“8-to-80 companies” — companies and sectors whose products are needed, used, loved and trusted across the globe by people in every age group, from 8 to 80 (ref: :Howard Lindzon).
What are my 3-largest holdings inside my own Public.com account?
Here are three that I don't care to touch until… well… I'm probably 80 ;)
XOM - ExxonMobil
VYM - Vanguard High Dividend Yield ETF
O - Realty Income Corp
There you have it…
A commission-free, no-brainer investments app you may have not known about, or used, until now.
